Carey Mercer (Blackout Beach, Swan Lake) whoops and howls out another great album under his Frog Eyes moniker, complete with new accompanying vocalist Megan Boddy. Dead Oceans releases the latest contribution from one of the best songwriters out here, and his brand of fluctuating and experimental rock is this time unfurled with a sense of urgency and tightened structure. Heavy dissonance, terse restraint, and jagged moments abound.
Le Ladies hope that Mr. Mercer can find time to spearhead a series of macabre and desolate greeting cards, with categories like 'Breaking Up With Your Dreams', 'Conditional Love From Distracted Parents', and 'There's A Right Way to Crawl Drunkenly On The Floor'.
